Inability -> Capability

Doubt. Job and his friends began to doubt God. Doubted His goodness, justice, and mercy. In his doubt, the Lord speaks to him in Job 38-41. Here's a glimpse of what the Lord says to Job:

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

“Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness, when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt’? Job 38:4-11

In the midst of doubt, God reminds us of who He is. He reminds us He is in control. He is powerful. He is God. Who are we to question Him and His ways? For three whole chapters, God questions Job. He asks Job questions that make him stop looking at himself and remember who God is. You see, in the midst of his doubt, Job and his friends look at themselves and anger, fear, worry, all of these emotions settle in. But when he begins to look at God, doubt turns to hope. When we look to God instead of doubt, instead of looking at all that's wrong, we experience true hope. Doubt is the devil's scheme to force us to worry instead of hope. Fear instead of faith. When we doubt, we doubt God's goodness, faithfulness, and promises. Most of all, we doubt His presence in our lives. Doubts pushes God out of the equation completely instead of having Him as the solution. When we doubt, we invite the devils destruction in. We all doubt. But if we change how we view things doubt can most certainly turn into hope. It all depends on who we allow to have the remote to our mind, heart, and soul. When things are hard, uncertain, or scary, God doesn't want us to look at ourselves. When we do that, we realize we are incapable, and our fear grows. But He wants us to look at Him and know that HE IS CAPABLE. When we doubt, we limit God's abilities, because we are staring at our inabilities. Doubt doesn't glorify God, it actually belittles Him. Doubt makes us believe it's impossible. God makes us believe it's possible, because with Him, we know He's capable. That doesn't mean that whatever we want God will do. But rather, hoping in God does three things; denies the devil access, gives God full access and control, and allows God to be God and us to not be. Doubt makes us think that we are powerful enough to limit and hinder God. Because in the midst of doubt, we look at our inabilities, we look at it through our human eyes, and we see impossible. We think that because of our inability, it won't happen. The truth is that our inabilities have no power against His abilities and capability. He used pharaoh for His good, Moses (who to himself was "not eloquent" with words) to lead thousands to God, He chose David (the most unlikely to be chosen) to fight Goliath. He often uses our inabilities for HIS good and glory. In 2 Corinthians Paul actually writes, "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me." 2 Corinthians 12:9

God says His power is made PERFECT in weakness. When we recognize our inability, we praise God's capability. Don't doubt, but hope. Not in yourself, but in Christ alone. For who are you to question Him? Do you call the sun to rise? Send the wind to the east? Tell the sea when to calm? Would you doubt the One who does all this and even created your inner most being? The One who knows you more than you know yourself? Someone like that doesn't seem to deserve doubt, but seems to deserve the greatest trust, and hope. In times when it'd be easier to doubt, hope. That's how you can be different.
