Know Him, Trust Him

In all honesty, life has been everything but simple. Everything, but peaceful. Life has been wild, crazy, and stressful. One night, I picked up my Bible, struggling to know where to read. I decided on Psalms, but where? I flipped through Psalms really quick, as I've read through it before, and was hoping that one of them I would remember. I was hoping to find one that would remind me of God and His character. "For some reason," I picked Psalm 46. The beginning talks about the Lord being our refuge and strength, we see His power and might. As I flipped the next page of my Bible to continue to read on to verse 10... I stopped. "He says, 'Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.' "- Psalm 46:10
Wow. I sat, literally amazed. That first part hit me... hard. He doesn't just tell us to be still. Or to be still and know we can do it. No, be still and know who He is. I've been prone to worry about the things that are out of my control, instead of resting in the fact that everything is in His control. I worry about the things I don't know, instead of resting in the fact that He knows. Maybe that's you too. Maybe you've been going and going and haven't had the chance to stop and realize you're out of breath. Maybe you've been carrying too much, you've been struggling with surrendering. Maybe you need that same reminder I did... be still and know He is God. Be still. Know He is God. God needs you to hear that today. Let Him do His job and while He does that, He just needs you to be still and trust Him. Trust who He is. Trust His character. Being still in a society that tells you to plan so far in the future, be in control of your life, work, but also go to school. Even just reading all of that, it's exhausting. Being still in the world today is not easy. In order to be still, we need to look to Him first. If we look at all the things that surround us and take up our time, then we will be everything BUT still. We can be still because we know who He is. How can you trust someone you don't know? If we don't know Him, we can't trust Him. If we don't trust Him, we carry everything on our own, leaving us worried, anxious, doubtful, etc. Leaving us all things but still and all things but confident in Him.
