Not A Mistake

Maybe you feel like God made a mistake. Like He made a mistake with how he made you (whether it be body shape, eye color, hair color, face features, gender-which is a common one today). Maybe you feel like He made a mistake by placing that friend in your life, placing you in that season, bringing you to that place or job, etc. And maybe you're sitting there feeling like He made a mistake by making you in general. Mistakes are not a God thing, it's a human thing. The human heart is deceitful above all else (Jeremiah 17:9). We are imperfect. We make mistakes, not Him. To say He is the One who made a mistake is saying you could have done better than Him. Truth is, you could not have, and would not have. I think it is comforting to know that God has not and will not make mistakes. His plan is perfectly laid out. He created you the way He wanted you, the way He needed you. He mapped out your life in the best way, His plan is ALWAYS best. He placed you with the people who needed you and the people you needed. He did not make any mistake with you. God did not make a mistake by sending His Son to die for you on the cross. We see that even the hard things, He uses. Everything is part of something greater than you and I. I have found as I scroll through social media a generation that feels like they are a mistake, which is saying God made a mistake. It is sad to see so many people wandering, trying to find something to numb that feeling of being a mistake. If only they knew the God that created them. If only they knew His love, His sacrifice, His commitment, His hand knocking and knocking on the door they locked to their heart. But, they pushed away the One thing, the One person, who will show them they are not a mistake. They push Him away, scorn Him, belittle His sacrifice, and ignore His love. We are not mistakes. We make mistakes, sure, but we are not mistakes ourselves. Yet, they push away the One who was tortured so He could cover our mistakes. They reject Him and He cannot force them to accept Him. I've wondered for a while, how can people not see the truth? How are they so blind to it? They must not want to see it.

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever-the Spirit of truth. The world CANNOT accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." -John 14:16-17

They cannot accept Him. Accepting the Truth is hard when it goes against your opinion. The world is literally blind to Truth. They cannot see Him. With all that to say, there is no reason God cannot remove the scales from their eyes and let them see. And He might just use you to do so. As Christians, we need to know and live like we know and find comfort in the fact that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139) and He makes no mistakes. We need to live like and believe that with Him our scarlet sins are made white as snow, because of His sacrificial gift. We need to live different. Remind people who they are. Remind fellow Christians Whose they are. Share with non believers Whose they can be.

I encourage you, you are no mistake and where you are is not a mistake, because He makes no mistakes. He chose each feature of you, He chose your gender, He chose where you would be now and where you're going to be. He chose the man for you, if you're a woman. And He chose the woman for you, if you're a man. He did not make a mistake in the way He created marriage to be. He does not make mistakes. He is perfect. I think this is something that is difficult for us to understand at times. To imagine Jesus being fully perfect, even in thought, no mistakes. But isn't that beautiful to imagine and know? What a great Coach we have in life rooting us on, carrying us through, teaching us through our mistakes. He doesn't look down on us. He wants us to succeed and when we make mistakes, just like any parent, it hurts Him. But He's there when you're ready to come back. Know who He is, so you can know who you are. When we know this, we can fully live for Him, and live different than the world. Because we have Hope, we know our Creator well, we know Love, we know the Truth.

This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. -Psalm 18:30

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. -Romans 8:28

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (1 John 2:1)

“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he. (Deut. 32:4)
